Middle School Lacrosse in Boulder County (6th–8th Grade)

Middle school is where many Boulder County players develop their skills and start competing at a higher level. Programs at this stage bridge recreational play and the more serious high school game.

Who It's For

Players in 6th through 8th grade (ages 11–14). Both boys and girls programs are available. Some players compete in club programs year-round in addition to school-based teams.

Season

The primary season is spring (March–May). Club programs may compete in fall and winter as well.

School-Based Programs

Boulder Valley School District middle schools field lacrosse teams in spring. Contact your school's athletic director to learn about tryouts, eligibility requirements, and practice schedules.

Middle schools with lacrosse programs include schools in the Boulder, Louisville, Lafayette, and Erie areas — check with your school directly for current program status.

Club Programs

Club lacrosse allows players to compete beyond their school season and often involves travel tournaments. Boulder County has several club organizations that field middle school-age teams. Look for clubs affiliated with Colorado Youth Lacrosse or the National Lacrosse Federation.

Gear

Full protective gear is required: helmet, gloves, arm pads, shoulder pads (boys), mouthguard, and cleats. Girls' programs require goggles and a mouthguard. Sticks must meet governing body specifications.
